More info:
This coffee is sourced from the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU), a farmer-owned organisation established in 1999. The union represents a wide network of smallholder farmers across Ethiopia’s Oromia region, coordinating cultivation, processing and export while ensuring quality and traceability.
The coffee comes from some of Ethiopia’s most respected growing areas, where highland Arabica thrives under ideal climatic conditions. Grown largely under traditional shade systems, farms use agroforestry practices that support biodiversity and long-term soil health. As a cooperative, OCFCU reinvests into local communities through education, healthcare and farmer training, while certification schemes such as Fairtrade and organic help secure sustainable premiums for growers.
This lot has been decaffeinated using the sugar cane (ethyl acetate) process. Ethyl acetate is a naturally occurring compound found in fruits and sugar cane. The green coffee is gently steamed, then washed with a water–EA solution that selectively removes caffeine while preserving the coffee’s flavour structure. The beans are then steamed again to remove any residual EA and dried back to their original moisture content.
The result is a decaf that keeps the character of its origin — bright, clean and expressive - rather than tasting stripped or flat.
It’s a properly handled Ethiopian decaf, with clarity and sweetness intact, offering the kind of flavour you’d expect from high-grown Arabica — just without the caffeine.
