More info about this coffee:
Grown in the fertile highlands near Lake Kivu, Kageyo Washing Station produces some of Rwanda’s most exceptional specialty coffee. This cooperative of smallholder farmers, cultivating coffee at 1,800 to 2,000 meters, has built a legacy of excellence, earning 2nd place in the 2010 Cup of Excellence (COE) and claiming 1st place in 2011—an extraordinary feat for a newly established producer.
Before the construction of the washing station in 2009, Kageyo’s farmers only processed semi-washed coffee. However, their commitment to quality led them to invest in fully washed processing, which quickly put them on the global specialty coffee map. Despite challenges such as low yields and financial struggles, their dedication never wavered. In 2013, a partnership with Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) helped Kageyo stabilize production, optimize yields, and access a broader market, ensuring their coffee reached passionate drinkers worldwide.
Today, Kageyo continues to thrive, offering a coffee that reflects the region’s rich volcanic soils, high altitude, and meticulous processing. This lot is remarkably limited, with only 50 bags secured from our importers falcon, making it a rare and sought-after experience for coffee lovers.
