El Bosque, Colombia
Espresso & Filter roast
A washed Caturra from Alexander Olaya's family farm in northern Huila, roasted for espresso and filter.
Four generations in, and still getting better
Alexander Olaya grew up watching his family farm coffee at Finca El Bosque in northern Huila. He's the second generation to work the land, but the legacy goes deeper - what Alexander is building is becoming a fourth-generation story.
It hasn't always been straightforward. Like most smallholder producers in Colombia, the family navigated years of low coffee prices and demanding manual labour. What changed was a combination of better farming tools, stronger access to specialty markets, and the kind of resilience that comes from genuinely caring about the outcome. Coffee farming at Finca El Bosque is now sustainable, profitable, and something Alexander is proud to pass on.
The farm sits in northern Huila, one of Colombia's most celebrated growing regions — where Alexander cultivates Colombia, Caturra, Castillo, Pink Bourbon and Gesha varieties. He works without pesticides or conventional fertilisers, and water used during processing is treated before returning to the ecosystem. These aren't marketing badges. They're the decisions of someone who intends to farm here for a long time.
